Prepare for Holy Week with liturgical theology and history! In this two-part series, originally offered at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Marco Benini offers us an opportunity to prepare for the liturgies of Holy Week.
In part 1, experienced teacher and scholar Fr. Benini reflects on the liturgies of Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday, placing liturgical history in conversation with liturgical theology.

Fr. Marco Benini serves as ordinary professor for liturgical studies at the Theologische Fakultรคt Trier, the head of the academic department of the German Liturgical Institute (Deutsches Liturgishes Institut) in Trier, and as research professor at The Catholic University of America. His most recent pastoral work, Were Not our Hearts Burning? Understanding the Mass–Living the Eucharist, was published with Paulist Press in 2026.
