The Season Of Creation Across America: Part I

By Andrenique Rolle, August 25, 2025

The Season of Creation is an annual ecumenical celebration that takes place from September 1 (World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation) to October 4 (Feast of St. Francis of Assisi). During this period, churches and faith communities come together in prayer, reflection, and action to care for our shared home. Rooted in Scripture and Christian tradition, this season emphasizes Godโ€™s call to live in harmony with creation, each other, and the Creator with the theme “Peace with Creation”.

The 2025 Celebration guide can be found here. Here are a few items of note!

This day emphasizes the urgent need for environmental stewardship and calls for prayer, reflection, and concrete actions to transform our world into โ€œa garden, a place of rest and serenity.โ€ To support this initiative, the Missa pro custodia creationis (Mass for the Care of Creation) was introduced in July 2025, providing liturgical resources for Catholics to pray for the protection of creation and to live in harmony with nature. Around the world, dioceses and parishes are encouraged to engage in prayer services, educational events, community clean-ups, and advocacy for environmental justice, all grounded in faith and the reflection on humanityโ€™s responsibility toward Godโ€™s creation.
