100 Cribs at the Vatican Exhibition
The eighth edition of the “100 Cribs at the Vatican” exhibition is set to take place today, December 8, 2025, in St. Peter’s Square, Rome. This annual event brings together 132 nativity scenes from artists representing 23 countries, and lights up the square in a dazzling display.
One scene has been designed on the front of an ATAC (Rome’s public transport) bus, another is made from a tannery drum, as well as a number of fully moving, mechanical scenes, all vying to steal the show.
This year’s event is part of the “Jubilee is culture” series, which aims to promote culture and spirituality during this year’s Jubilee. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, and will feature a ceremony with music and Christmas songs.
If you happen to be in Rome this holiday season, admission to the exhibition is free, well-worth a visit, and open from today, December 8 (from 4pm Rome time) to January 8, 2026.
