Vatican-Sponsored Pope Leo XIV Doc Released

By Editor, November 10, 2025

On Nov. 10th, the Vatican released a documentary on the first American pope, titled “Leo From Chicago.” It features interviews with family, former teachers and classmates who, judging by the trailer, all have unique but uniformly glowing remarks on the man they all know well as Bob Prevost.

“Leo From Chicago” follows on the heels of another early doc, “León de Perú” which covered his many years spent missioning in that country. This latest offering marks the 6-month anniversary of Leo XIV’s papacy, which has thus far been mostly cautious and measured. Early remarks, letters and one apostolic exhortation show consistency with Pope Francis on many fundamental matters including concern for the poor, migrants, ethical use of AI and climate change. Several key topics still have yet to be weighed in on include the role of women in the Church, Synodality, the latest scuffles over the Latin Mass, and abuse scandals, although it should be noted that the pope met with victims from Belgium for over three hours this past Saturday.

As the six-month mark passes, “Leo From Chicago” promises a warm, human portrait of the pontiff — reminding us that the man, currently still very much in the transitional stages of one of the world’s most attention-absorbing roles, is at heart a life-long missionary from Illinois who still answers to the name “Bob.”
