GOSPEL COMMUNION: 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

October 9, 2022 : 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week’s antiphon and psalm, unusually, are not based directly on the scriptures of the day but instead reflect the meditation that might have been in the heart of Naaman the leper after his cure (1st Reading) or the anonymous leper who returned to give thanks to Jesus (Gospel). Psalm 138 expresses the thankfulness of the one whose plea has reached the ear of the Lord. We, too, thank the Lord for his goodness to us as we sing in the Communion procession.

The antiphon may be repeated continuously as an ostinato with the psalm verses superimposed, adding to the meditative effect.

A demo recording will be found here.
