Notre Dame Preaching Conference videos, now available online

In June 2022, the John S. Marten program in Homiletics and Liturgics at the University of Notre Dame hosted a conference entitled Living in the Light of the Word: Enlivening the Scriptural Imagination for Preaching. About 200 participants attended. I gave one of the keynotes, which was devoted to the Sunday of the Word of God.

In addition to the four keynote speakers: Tom Long, Gary Anderson, Fr. Donald Senior, CP, and myself, there were eleven workshop sessions and a closing panel discussion. I’m delighted to let you know that all the presentations are now available online.

You can find the links here.

Look out for the book, too, which will be published by Liturgy Training Publications of Chicago at some future date.

A big shout-out to the Marten Program, to Notre Dame University, and to Fr. Michael Connors, CSC, the director. His wise and thoughtful leadership shepherded us through the conference. He and his support team could not have been more kind and hospitable.

And, just so you know… The 2023 conference is already planned. The title is Visions of the Reign of God: Preaching and Catholic Social Teaching and it will be held on June 26-28, 2023.

The upcoming conference will include keynote addresses by Archbishop John Wester of Santa Fe, NM; Mary Novak of NETWORK Lobby; Barbara Reid OP, President of Catholic Theological Union, Chicago; and Jorge Presmanes OP of Barry University. There will be workshops offered by Richard Lischer, Tim Matovina, Ray Kemp, Kimberly Baker, Charles Bouchard OP, Margie Pfeil, Bill Purcell, Dan Misleh, Todd Walatka and more.
