GOSPEL COMMUNION: 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

August 14, 2022 : 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Another multi-purpose antiphon (see last Sunday’s) with strong reminiscences of the Emmaus story (“Did not our hearts burn within us as he spoke to us?”). Today, the springboard is Luke 12:49 from the beginning of the Gospel reading (“I have come to set the earth on fire”) with Hebrews 12:2 from the 2nd Reading (“while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus”). May our hearts burn within us as we share in the breaking of the bread!

The antiphon may be sung as a round, as indicated. Today’s psalm verses are Ps 130, suggested by the ICEL 1998 Antiphonal and 2012 Antiphonary.

A demo recording extract will be found here.
