Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology is offering an intensive 3-credit Preaching and Teaching course this summer from July 18-22, 2022 with Dr. Deb Organ. This three-credit course geared toward laypeople and deacons will focus on concrete practices for developing a “homiletic eye” to note the many ways that God acts in our daily lives. Students will learn to communicate effectively preaching and teaching in various ministerial contexts, and will work with foundational and advanced homiletic skills applicable to lay ministers, with particular attention to the Church during and following the pandemic. The pedagogy of the course is praxis-centered; students will participate as individuals and work together collaboratively as a group.

Dr. Organ holds a BSW from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, an MDiv from Harvard Divinity School, an MSW from St. Catherine/University of St. Thomas in St. Paul MN, and a DMin in Preaching from the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, MO.

Contact Dr. John Schlachter at apply@saintmeinrad.edu to apply for non-degree status by May 1 in order to register for this class by May 18. For more information, see https://www.saintmeinrad.edu/graduate-theology/how-to-apply/.
