GOSPEL COMMUNION: Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion

April 10 2022 : Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion

The Collegeville Composers Group were influenced by the wording of the Communion antiphon from the Roman Missal and Gradual as presented in the ICEL 1998 Antiphonal:

If I must drink this cup
and it may not pass by,
Father, your will be done.

This classic text from the narrative of the Agony in the Garden is coupled with verses from Ps 116, as suggested in the Roman Gradual, Missal and the 1998 Antiphonal.

This antiphon and psalm offer people the opportunity to surrender themselves in Holy Communion with the words and in the way Jesus surrendered himself to his Father.
