GOSPEL COMMUNION: 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

November 7 2021 : 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Missal and Graduale both have the antiphon

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose,
near restful waters he leads me. (Ps 23/22: 1-2)

and both specify verses from the same psalm. Today’s readings, with the story of the widow and Elijah and Jesus noticing the poor widow’s small coins are recalled in the psalmist’s words “you give me repose… to revive my drooping spirit” and “you have prepared a banquet for me… my head you have anointed with oil”.

In the Communion procession, we recognize that with the Lord as our shepherd, there is indeed nothing we shall want.
