GOSPEL COMMUNION: 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time

July 5, 2020: Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The antiphon, recently used on the feast of the Sacred Heart, is taken directly from the final lines of this Sunday’s Gospel reading:

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart” (Matthew 11:28-29)

Psalm verses are drawn from Ps 33(32), in the course of which we sing that

Our hearts find joy in the Lord,
We trust in God’s holy name.
May your love be upon us, O Lord.
As we place all our hope in you.

At a time when we are tired and weary of the circumstances imposed on us by the pandemic, we can “hear the voice of Jesus say, ‘Come unto me and rest’.”
