GOSPEL COMMUNION: 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

July 28 2019 : 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Continuing last weekโ€™s thread of knocking, opening, asking and receiving, the antiphon is taken from Luke 11:9 which forms the climax to todayโ€™s Gospel. This time it is not the Lord who knocks on our door, asking us to admit him, but we who, as it were, knock on his door, asking for the grace of the Holy Spirit (see Luke 11:13).

Verses, set to a tone based on the antiphon, follow the suggestion of Psalm 73 made in the 1998 ICEL Antiphonal for the alternative Communion Antiphon.
