John was a good man who was intensely frustrated with (among other things) the way that ICEL’s work was hobbled from the late 1990s onward. Now he is free from all that! May he rest in peace.

John was an inspiring teacher. He showed me that I also have a vocation to ministry and always treated all of his students with the greatest respect. I am so blessed to have encountered him and will always think of him with the deepest fondness.

He was a lovely and very funny person to work with in the archdiocese of Los Angeles – so many frustrating moments that could only (or, at least, best) be met with humour – otherwise we would have lost our minds. May he rest in peace and rise in glory!
