Hymn Society Names First Director of The Center for Congregational Song

 

The Hymn Society is pleased to announce that Brian Hehn has been selected to be the first Director of The Center for Congregational Song (CCS). Brian will join the Society staff on September 1, with the goal of fully launching all of the programs designed for The Center upon completion of the $2.2 million campaign, which will endow the programs of the CCS. Brianโ€™s duties will blend both the roll-out of new programs and re-design of pilot programs with operation of the Societyโ€™s existing annual conference and managing the Societyโ€™s new website.

Brian HehnBrian Hehn received his Bachelor of Music Education from Wingate University and his Master of Sacred Music magna cum laude from Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University. Brian is also certified in children’s church music (K-12) by Choristers Guild. His interests include 21st-century hymnody, creative worship, and drumming for worship. Brian is active as a drumming clinician and has recently published a new book, All Hands In: Drumming the Biblical Narrative, published by Choristers Guild. He is the Director of Music at Arapaho United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas. He also recently taught Kindergarten music for the Richardson Independent School District for the 2014-2015 school year and served as a Member-at-large on the Executive Board of the Hymn Society of the United States and Canada. Brian lives in Richardson, Texas, with his wife, Eve, and son, Jakob.
