The National Catholic Youth Choir is currently accepting applicants for its 14th season to be held June 16 – July 1 2014. Applications are due this Friday, March 21st. Spread the word!
The 2014 theme, drawing on the message of Pope Francis, is “Called to Serve.”
Each year up to 45 high school students entering grades 10, 11, and 12 from across the United States are selected to participate in the choir based on written applications, formal recommendations, and recorded auditions. The two-week summer camp includes extensive choir rehearsals, repertoire-based classes in religion, music theory, and music history, recreation, recording a CD, daily worship and prayer. The finals days of the camp culminate in a multi-state concert tour.
Applications and other pertinent information are available on the National Catholic Youth Choir website.
And here’s a video of the choir from a year ago – singing “Jubilate Deo” by 16th-century composer Orlando di Lasso.
