Joe Balistreri
Joe is from Detroit, Michigan, and earned his Masters in Organ from the University of Michigan. His organ performances include an AGO convention, university conferences, and orchestral collaborations. The American Organist magazine has described Joe’s playing as “especially moving.” The Diapason magazine hailed his “impressive technique and bristling enthusiasm.” Joe is the Director of Music for the Archdiocese of Detroit and directs the Archdiocesan Chorus. He created the St. Jude Recital Series, a community-building, fundraising series of organ recitals supporting the restoration and upkeep of the 75-rank Pilzecker organ of St. Jude Church, Detroit.
Fr. Peter Funk, OSB
Fr. Peter is Prior and Choir Master of the Monastery of the Holy Cross in Chicago. Before entering monastic life, he worked as a choral conductor at St. Thomas the Apostle parish and the University of Chicago, where he received a bachelor’s degree in music theory and composition. He has continued to compose liturgical music throughout his time in the monastery, and in 2012 he founded Schola Laudis, a choir dedicated to performing the sacred music of the 15th-17th centuries in appropriate liturgical settings.
Pedro Rubalcava
Pedro is a nationally known clinician and performer in various musical styles. For the past 26 years, he has been working in professional pastoral ministry in liturgy and music, evangelization, youth and young adult ministry, catechetical ministry and RCIA. He received national recognition in 1990 when “Amanecer,” his bilingual music collection, was nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Mexican/American Performance category. Currently, Pedro is the Director of Hispanic ministries for Oregon Catholic Press. He also serves on the executive board of the Instituto Nacional Hispano de Liturgia as the Northwest representative.
