Reuters/IPSOS poll: 94% of U.S. Catholics Have Favorable Impression of Pope Francis

From Yahoo News:

Pope Francis, formally installed on Tuesday as head of the world’s 1.2 billion Roman Catholics, has made a good impression so far in the United States among Catholics and non-Catholics, though few Americans knew much about him, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed.

Of those who are aware of the new pope, 85 percent of all U.S. adults surveyed had a favorable view of him, including 94 percent of Catholics, according to the poll.

An earlier CNN poll showed 88% approval for the new pope. By contrast, only 60% of American Catholics had approved of the selection of Pope Benedict in 2005.
