Garbage in, Bach out

The town of Cateura, Paraguay was literally built on top of a landfill – a landfill that receives over 1,500 tons of waste each day. Despite the seemingly hopeless situation in Cateura, something truly beautiful has emerged. Ingenuitive locals began turning trash into musical instrument for the town’s youth.
The above video testifies to the transformative power of music, even in the more dire of situations. Perhaps there’s a message of social justice here that speaks of human needs that run far deeper than the mere basics of life. What do you think?

Miraculous! That such instruments AND such music-making should be the bestowed upon such children! How fortunate they are!

(A good-natured question: is ‘ingenuitive’ really a word? Perhaps it’s a marriage of ‘ingenious’ and ‘intuitive’???)

What a paradoxical way to make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
