    “Merry Christmas” and be done with it. Those who look for reasons to be offended will find them; those who are willing to take a good wish for what it’s intended to be will simply say “Thank you” or reply with their seasonal wish. At least for now, this is still a predominantly Christian nation; there’s no reason to deny our heritage in this.
