But the diocesan censors there are banning metrical settings of the <em>Benedictus<\/em> and <em>Magnificat <\/em>from new congregational resources<em>. <\/em>Only\u00a0the official (prose) text from here on out.<\/p>\n<p>So much for helping parishioners sing the Liturgy of the Hours in the unbelievable wide diversity of pastoral situations and available musical resources.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more.<\/p>\n<p>Up until now the U.S. <em>General Instruction for the Roman Missal<\/em>, as approved by the Holy See, permitted any text to be used for the Responsorial Psalm when the musical setting called for it.
