I am working with the priests of the San Jos\u00e9 diocese on Wednesday on how to preside with the new prayers texts. I always dip into the new translation for the Sunday upcoming and set side by side the Latin original, the 1970 translation, the 2011 translation, and the Spanish translation.<\/p>\n
Looking at the 4th Sunday of Easter, this appears to be the 2011 collect:<\/p>\n
Almighty ever-living God,
\ntend us to a share in the joys of heaven,
\nso that the humble flock may reach
\nwhere the brave Shepherd has gone before.
\nWho lives and reigns with you . . .<\/p>\n
The original:<\/p>\n
Omn\u00edpotens sempit\u00e9rne Deus,
\ndeduc nos ad societ\u00e1tem c\u00e6l\u00e9stium gaudi\u00f3rum,
\nut eo perv\u00e9niat hum\u00edlitas gregis,
\nquo proc\u00e9ssit fortit\u00fado past\u00f3ris.<\/p>\n
The 1970:<\/p>\n
Almighty and ever-living God,
\ngive us new strength
\nfrom the courage of Christ our shepherd,
\nand lead us to join the saints in heaven,

And the 2008:<\/p>\n
Almighty everlasting God,
\nlead us to companionship in the joys of heaven,
