The 23rd annual\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvin.edu\/worship\/sympos\/2010\/\" target=\"_blank\">Symposium on Worship<\/a>, sponsored by the \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvin.edu\/worship\/\" target=\"_blank\">Calvin Institute of Christian Worship<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/cep.calvinseminary.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Center for Excellence in Preaching<\/a> at Calvin Theological Seminary, took place January 28-30 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was a huge success! With 1,500 attendees, including 160 overseas international guests from 39 countries,\u00a0the symposium\u00a0was larger than 2009 and 2008. Thirty &#8220;book group&#8221; leaders attended, representing 30 groups (250 readers) from across the US and Canada that read our publication <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvin.edu\/worship\/pub\/all_ages_groups.php\" target=\"_blank\">The Church of All Ages: Generations Worshiping Together<\/a><\/em> this past summer and fall.<\/p>\n<p>There was a plenary panel and afternoon seminar on &#8220;Worship, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation-Global, Local, and Personal-with both international and North American presenters, moderated by John D. Witvliet.\u00a0Panelists were Elias Chacour (Archbishop of the Melkite Catholic Church in Israel\/Palestine), Kobus Gerber and Jerry Pillay (pastors in South Africa from different denominations), Setri Nyomi (General Secretary of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches, now in Geneva, but originally from Ghana); Eric Sarwar (pastor from Pakistan),\u00a0Karen Campbell (pastor from Northern Ireland) and Ed Gilbreath (author of <em>Reconciliation Blues).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There were live video stream our worship services via our <a href=\"www.calvin.edu\/worship\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>, and lots of participants sent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calvin.edu\/worship\/connect\/twitter\/\" target=\"_blank\">tweets <\/a>on the event.<\/p>\n<p>Mark your calendar for next year: January 27-29, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Kristen Verhulst, CICW Asssitant Director, and Emily Brink, CICW Senior Research Fellow<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 23rd annual Symposium on Worship, sponsored by the  Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and the Center for Excellence in Preaching at Calvin Theological Seminary, took place January 28-30 at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
