Para los casos de bautismos numerosos, en el rito bautismal, deben figurar las adaptaciones necesarias, que se emplear\u00e1n a juicio del ordinario del lugar. Red\u00e1ctese tambi\u00e9n un rito m\u00e1s breve que pueda ser usado, principalmente en las misiones, por los catequistas, y, en general, en peligro de muerte, por los fieles cuando falta un sacerdote o un di\u00e1cono<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En la \u00e9poca del Concilio Vaticano II, exist\u00eda un consenso general entre pastores y misioneros de que el Rito del Bautismo mostraba muy poca flexibilidad para adaptarse a las diversas situaciones pastorales. El art\u00edculo 68 otorga al Ordinario del lugar el derecho de permitir que se simplifique el Rito del Bautismo (de formas a\u00fan no especificadas) cuando un n\u00famero significativo de candidatos al bautismo sean presentados (como infantes) o se presenten por s\u00ed mismos (como adultos) en una misma ceremonia.
