It names real challenges \u2014 habitat loss, biodiversity decline, pollution, and industrial agriculture\u2019s effects \u2014 yet frames them with renewal, not despair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bishops opening words: \u201cWe write to you with enduring hope \u2026 to encourage you in that \u2018hope that does not disappoint\u2019 (Romans 5:5).\u201d They add, \u201cHope allows us to look to the future and inspires us to act in the present.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter\u2019s core is sacramental. Quoting Christopher Thompson\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Joyful-Mystery-Toward-Thomism-Living-ebook\/dp\/B079B4FB6Q?tag=ustxtadsp-20&amp;dplnkId=14808f9b-8ce1-4d94-8ac9-690aa6ad1748&amp;nodl=1\"><em>The Joyful Mystery: Field Notes to<\/em> <em>a Green Thomism<\/em><\/a><em>, <\/em>they note that the Eucharist is \u201cthe fulfillment of integral ecology.\u201d At the end of Mass, Catholics are \u201csent forth \u2026 in mission \u2018for the life of the world.\u2019\u201d The Holy Spirit\u2019s \u201cviriditas,\u201d or \u201cgreening power\u201d, renews both souls and land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Practical steps include watershed care, ecological agriculture, and renewable energy. At just over 20 pages, the letter is concise, locally rooted in Scripture and Indiana\u2019s landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a media landscape of high alert doom-and-gloom narratives, <a href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5f1721179551a174cf3979ad\/t\/69d672ffc471f61d25396b50\/1775661823698\/T3079_txt_V00web+%281%29.pdf\">this letter\u2019s<\/a> quiet focus on hope, beauty, and everyday action stands out as refreshingly constructive. Let us never forget that Jesus says, \u201cSee, I make everything new\u201d (Revelations 21:5).
