The numbers don\u2019t lie: huge droves of them are returning, or coming home for the first time, to Christ.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fall 2025, U.S. college campuses saw a remarkable increase in students entering the Catholic Church through baptisms, confirmations, and full initiations. At Arizona State University, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecollegefix.com\/gen-zers-hungry-for-truth-record-52-students-join-catholic-church-at-asu\/\">a record\u00a0<strong>52 students<\/strong>\u00a0were received into the faith<\/a> this past fall, with projections for <em>another 50<\/em> in spring 2026 \u2014 driven in large part by stellar outreach work from the campus Newman Center with strong accompaniment by FOCUS missionaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/268435\/college-campus-ministries-register-remarkable-growth-in-baptisms-confirmations\">Similar growth has been reported<\/a> at universities like Michigan, Nebraska, and Illinois, reflecting Gen Z&#8217;s search for certainty amid increasing cultural uncertainty. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncregister.com\/features\/college-newman-centers-conversions-revival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Catholic Register<\/a> called it a \u201cGolden Age of Ministry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Young adults \u2014 many students and professionals \u2014 are leading the surge on a global level. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/263349\/france-sees-record-10384-adult-baptisms-in-2025-45-percent-increase-as-young-catholics-lead-revival\">France recorded over\u00a0<strong>10,384 adult baptisms<\/strong>\u00a0in 2025<\/a>, a 45% rise, with 42% aged 18-25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is not limited to Catholicism. Evangelical groups <a href=\"https:\/\/religionnews.com\/2025\/10\/21\/is-there-religious-revival-among-gen-z\/\">report thousands of college students<\/a> making faith commitments since 2023, with large-scale baptisms and worship events\u00a0, while Eastern Orthodox churches are seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/11\/19\/us\/orthodox-christianity.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share\">overflowing pews filled with young converts<\/a> seeking tradition and rigor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As many of you know, Pray Tell is run and operated out of Collegeville, MN, the site of <a href=\"https:\/\/saintjohnsabbey.org\/\">Saint John\u2019s Abbey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csbsju.edu\/\">Saint John\u2019s University<\/a>, as well as SJU\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csbsju.edu\/sot\/\">School of Theology and Seminary<\/a>. Campus minsters Margaret Nuzzolese (SJU) and Cindy Gonzalez (at SJU\u2019s sister school, the College of St Benedict\u2019s in St Joseph) confirmed that the last few years have seen a spike in their programming attendance all across the board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Nuzzolese: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csbsju.edu\/sju-campus-ministry\/\">Saint John&#8217;s Campus Ministry<\/a> this semester witnessed remarkable growth in participation in Mass and record interest in OCIA. Since 2023 and in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csbsju.edu\/csb-campus-ministry\/\">Saint Ben&#8217;s Campus Ministry<\/a>, we saw our combined attendance at the first three Masses of the semester grow by over 47%.\u201d She went on to say that \u201cOCIA participation <strong>more than doubled at both campus ministry communities<\/strong>, which had also <strong>doubled the previous year<\/strong>!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gonzalez told us, \u201cwe are seeing young people who are curious, seeking stability, and encountering the vitality of ritual during a time in our history where much is the opposite. Campus Ministry offers intentionality, community, and hospitality to all. Numbers are increasing not just in the pews and not just in OCIA but in every aspect of our programming. It is inspiring to be able to journey with this generation of students.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There certainly are myriad reasons to be concerned that God\u2019s healing light is not breaking through the layers of brokenness impacting our world right now. But we know that things are much more than meets the eye. We can be <em>confident<\/em> in His restoration project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Young people are turning to their faith precisely because faulty, human reasoning has and will always let us down. They sense it. And in the process, they are discovering their birthright \u2014 that they are children of the light. This is the same, original light God created before all else. And it is the foundation and essence of everything.
