{"id":68950,"date":"2026-01-02T08:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T14:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=68950"},"modified":"2026-01-21T09:49:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T15:49:19","slug":"60-second-sermons-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/02\/60-second-sermons-9\/","title":{"rendered":"60-Second Sermons"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">By JP Misheff, January 2, 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we are invited to join the Magi in experiencing our own Epiphany &#8212; in order that we may be better and more confidently guided by the North Star of God&#8217;s light and love &#8212; yes, even in our broken world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"60ish-Second Sermons - JP Misheff, SOT\/Sem MDiv Candidate\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pPAOcl3lFZc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/bible\/matthew\/2?1\"><strong>Matthew 2:1-12<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea,<br>in the days of King Herod,&nbsp;<br>behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,&nbsp;<br>\u201cWhere is the newborn king of the Jews?<br>We saw his star at its rising<br>and have come to do him homage.\u201d<br>When King Herod heard this,<br>he was greatly troubled,&nbsp;<br>and all Jerusalem with him.<br>Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people,&nbsp;<br>He inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.<br>They said to him, \u201cIn Bethlehem of Judea,&nbsp;<br>for thus it has been written through the prophet:<br><em>And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah,<br>are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;<br>since from you shall come a ruler,<br>who is to shepherd my people Israel.<\/em>\u201d<br>Then Herod called the magi secretly&nbsp;<br>and ascertained from them the time of the star\u2019s appearance.<br>He sent them to Bethlehem and said,&nbsp;<br>\u201cGo and search diligently for the child.<br>When you have found him, bring me word,&nbsp;<br>that I too may go and do him homage.\u201d<br>After their audience with the king they set out.<br>And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them,&nbsp;<br>until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.<br>They were overjoyed at seeing the star,&nbsp;<br>and on entering the house<br>they saw the child with Mary his mother.<br>They prostrated themselves and did him homage.<br>Then they opened their treasures&nbsp;<br>and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.<br>And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod,&nbsp;<br>they departed for their country by another way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>JP Misheff<\/strong> is a first year MDiv candidate at Saint John&#8217;s School of Theology. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JP MISHEFF &#8212; Where and how do we sense Jesus today?
