Megan shows how the Psalm reminds us that the Messiah that we await wears justice as a band around his waist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"60-Second Sermons - Megan Effron, Obsculta Preaching Initiative\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/94jFHQLIoZo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Psalm 146:6-10<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The LORD God keeps faith forever,<br>secures justice for the oppressed,<br>gives food to the hungry.<br>The LORD sets captives free.<br><br>The LORD gives sight to the blind;<br>the LORD raises up those who were bowed down.<br>The LORD loves the just;<br>the LORD protects strangers.<br><br>The fatherless and the widow he sustains,<br>but the way of the wicked he thwarts.<br>The LORD shall reign forever;<br>your God, O Zion, through all generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Megan Effron<\/strong> is a doctoral candidate in systematic theology at the University of Notre Dame. She also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Notre Dame. Her dissertation draws on the writings of French Dominican Yves Congar as a foundation from which to construct a theology of preaching, with a particular focus on lay preaching. She has had the privilege of co-teaching homiletics to lay and seminarian graduate students at ND.
