{"id":64526,"date":"2024-07-11T10:19:22","date_gmt":"2024-07-11T15:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=64526"},"modified":"2024-07-11T10:19:24","modified_gmt":"2024-07-11T15:19:24","slug":"st-benedicts-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/11\/st-benedicts-day\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Benedict&#8217;s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today the Church celebrates the Memorial of St. Benedict.&nbsp; Co-patron of Europe, patron of students, and \u201cfather of monasticism,\u201d Holy Father Benedict bears a great load of prayer for the work of many of us who seek every day to live the Christ life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint John\u2019s Abbey, among many other Benedictine houses, celebrates their patron this day. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/bible.usccb.org\/daily-bible-reading\">psalm for today<\/a> employs the image of a vine, turning its leaves and tendrils to the Lord who might shine upon it and fill it with life and sustenance for growth\u2014and the bearing of much fruit.\u00a0 This vine, planted by God and grafted to Christ, desires to fill the earth with sustenance\u2014food which will foster men and women to live in the fullness of the Spirit, and the fullness of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">May the work and prayer of our Benedictine men, women, and oblates throughout the world prosper this day and always\u2014growing in strength and wisdom in their love for Christ and in their proclamation of the Gospel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHARINE E.
