{"id":62990,"date":"2023-12-12T11:57:54","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T17:57:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=62990"},"modified":"2023-12-16T22:10:58","modified_gmt":"2023-12-17T04:10:58","slug":"new-instructions-on-cremated-remains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/12\/new-instructions-on-cremated-remains\/","title":{"rendered":"New Instructions on Cremated Remains"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Dec. 9<sup>th<\/sup>, the Vatican\u2019s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/roman_curia\/congregations\/cfaith\/documents\/rc_ddf_doc_20231209_risposta-card-zuppi-ceneri_en.html\">addressed questions<\/a> raised by the Archbishop of Bologna concerning the preservation of cremated remains. The response largely repeats the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/roman_curia\/congregations\/cfaith\/documents\/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20160815_ad-resurgendum-cum-christo_en.html\">2016 instruction<\/a> from the then Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following were the questions raised by the Archbishop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>1. Taking into account the canonical prohibition against scattering the ashes of the deceased, is it possible to prepare a defined and permanent sacred place for the commingled accumulation and preservation of the ashes of the baptized, indicating the basic details of each person so as not to lose the memory of their names, similar to what occurs in ossuaries, where the mineralized remains of the deceased are cumulatively deposited and preserved?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2.
