September 18, 2022 : 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Since the Missal, Antiphonal, Antiphonary and <\/span>Graduale<\/span><\/i> selections do not relate to today\u2019s readings, the Collegeville Composers reused an antiphon from the 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, here designed to reflect the 1st Reading and Gospel\u2019s treatment of those who are only interested in storing up earthly treasures. The earthly treasure that we store up or seek (bread) is nothing compared with the \u201cliving bread that lasts for ever\u201d that we receive in Communion.<\/span><\/p>\n

The selected psalm verses from Psalm 37 exalt those who do good and are upright, while deploring those who trample on the poor (cf. 1st Reading).<\/span><\/p>\n

The antiphon melody is from the famous Lutheran hymn <\/span>Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme<\/span><\/i> (\u201cWake, O Wake, A Voice Is Calling\u201d), with a mini-refrain for the assembly at the end of every second line, consisting of the last third of the full antiphon.<\/span><\/p>\n
