(1 John 3:2)<\/p>\n<p>more recently rendered in the 2010 <em>Antiphonary<\/em> as:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">When Christ appears, we shall be like him,<br \/>\nfor we shall see him as he is.<\/p>\n<p>The Collegeville Composers also looked at the NAB translation of this entire verse, which runs:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">Beloved, we are God\u2019s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.<\/p>\n<p>The word \u201crevealed\u201d seemed appropriate for a feast celebrating a theophany of the Lord, which we hear about in today\u2019s\u00a0 Gospel in all three years of the cycle (this year, Luke).<\/p>\n<p>To aid meditation on the revealing of Christ, the antiphon works as a simple two-part canon, whose ebb and flow is constantly revealing the text, and there is an additional descant for bass voices.<\/p>\n<p>The psalm tone is superimposed on the music of the antiphon.
