\"\"<\/p>\n

The Roman Missal communion antiphon for Year B, \u201cI am the light of the world\u2026\u201d seems to have been selected to relate to the Lord opening the eyes of the blind in the 1st Reading and Responsorial Psalm. The Collegeville Composers Group decided instead to re-use an antiphon from Advent, but changing the wording in the second half to connect more closely with the Gospel reading in which Jesus cures the man with the speech impediment. The primary inspiration for the entire antiphon is these lines in the 1st Reading:<\/p>\n

Be strong, fear not!
\nHere is your God,
\nhe comes with vindication;
\nwith divine recompense
\nhe comes to save you.
\nThen will the eyes of the blind be opened,
\nthe ears of the deaf be cleared;
\nthen will the lame leap like a stag,
\nthen the tongue of the mute will sing. (Isaiah 34:4-6)<\/p>\n
