It\u2019s not just about color or fragrance. It\u2019s about rhythm. The way a space unfolds with the seasons, surprising you with something new just as another bloom bows out. That\u2019s the magic that thoughtful landscaping brings.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, keeping a garden flourishing year-round isn\u2019t just a matter of planting and praying. It takes planning, a feel for the land, and a bit of artistry. That\u2019s where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sugargreengardens.com\/\">Sugar Green Gardens<\/a> steps in like an old friend with a trowel in one hand and a vision in the other. They don\u2019t just shape gardens\u2014they shape stories, threading beauty into the ordinary corners of life. Whether you\u2019re dreaming of winding paths or a soft green oasis, they\u2019ve got the eye and heart to make it sing.<\/p>\n<p>And while the kids chase butterflies and we sip tea on the porch swing, it\u2019s hard not to feel grateful for a yard that feels like an extension of home. The dogwood won\u2019t always be in bloom, and the tulips will retreat soon enough, but with the right care and design, there\u2019s always another chapter waiting to grow.<\/p>\n<p>So, when we saw the news this week about the \u201cwarning: hard frost\u201d I thought, \u201cOf course.\u00a0 The night that begins Christ\u2019s passion is a great time to kill Easter flowers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In anticipation of what will soon be the memorial of the last flowers, I walked outside\u2014in the 34 degree weather we\u2019re enjoying in central Indiana today\u2014and took a close look at some of our flowering buds.\u00a0 They are beautiful, small, and hopeful sights of a warm green future, literally full of<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-55870 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Hyacinth-20210401_121042-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Hyacinth-20210401_121042-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Hyacinth-20210401_121042-533x400.jpg 533w, https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Hyacinth-20210401_121042-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Hyacinth-20210401_121042-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Hyacinth-20210401_121042-100x75.jpg 100w, https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Hyacinth-20210401_121042.jpg 1632w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> hummingbirds and butterflies.<\/p>\n<p>But not for long.<\/p>\n<p>Does a cold, hard frost destroy our memories and hopes?\u00a0 Certainly, the last year has frozen our worlds, stopped short many lives, and halted our ability to gather around an aromatic kitchen table with our loved ones and friends.<\/p>\n<p>We cannot deny our reality\u2014or the existence of death and destructive forces.\u00a0 Covid, and 32\u00b0 Fahrenheit, both exist.<\/p>\n<p>Nor does the Paschal Mystery deny our reality\u2014we proclaim Christ crucified.\u00a0 Death and Destructive forces both exist.\u00a0 But while this night may herald the end of my daffodils, this night is not the end for those of us who gather to participate worthily in these mysteries.<\/p>\n<p>The dark, cold, destructive night will come\u2014whether that night takes a single evening or 365 of them.\u00a0 But God is present here.\u00a0 Let us strive to keep our minds free of division.\u00a0 May there be an end to malice, strife, and quarrels.\u00a0 And let Christ our God be dwelling here among us (Mass of the Lord\u2019s Supper \u00a714).<\/p>\n<p>Even if the daffodils don\u2019t make it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The night that begins Christ\u2019s passion is a great time to kill Easter flowers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":55,"featured_media":55873,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3119,3405,17],"tags":[3494,729,3057,223],"class_list":["post-55868","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-plaza-new-ws","category-theology","category-liturgical-spirituality","tag-covid","tag-holy-thursday","tag-liturgical-spirituality","tag-paschal-mystery"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>It&#039;s a Cold, Hard Frost this Paschal Mystery - Home<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"A cold hard frost destroys flowers overnight;
