\"\"<\/p>\n

Based on these lines from today\u2019s Gospel from John chapter 20:<\/p>\n

Then he said to Thomas, \u201cPut your finger here and see my hands,
\nand bring your hand and put it into my side,
\nand do not be unbelieving, but believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

the 2010 Missal antiphon runs<\/p>\n

Bring your hand and feel the place of the nails,
\nand do not be unbelieving but believing, alleluia.<\/p>\n

which, in 2005 when this antiphon was written, had not yet appeared. The Collegeville Composers accordingly derived their text from the ICEL 1998 Antiphonal<\/em> version:<\/p>\n

The nails were here; reach out and feel.
\nThomas, believe and no longer doubt, alleluia.<\/p>\n

When we receive Jesus in Communion, we too are asked to \u201cdoubt no longer but believe\u201d; and we can also remember Thomas\u2019s declaration: \u201cMy Lord and my God\u201d.<\/p>\n

The 1998 Antiphonal<\/em> suggested Psalm 30 or 34 for verses. The Collegeville Composers opted for the first of these, and to give greater cohesion the psalm tone closely follows the melody of the antiphon.<\/p>\n
