August 16, 2020: Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The double inspiration for this Sunday\u2019s antiphon is, firstly, the Second Reading, especially these lines:<\/p>\n

Just as you once disobeyed God
\nbut have now received mercy because of their disobedience,
\nso they have now disobeyed in order that,
\nby virtue of the mercy shown to you,
\nthey too may now receive mercy.
\nFor God delivered all to disobedience,
\nthat he might have mercy upon all. (Romans 11:30-32)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

and secondly, the Communion antiphon in the Missal:<\/p>\n

With the Lord there is mercy;
\nin him is plentiful redemption. (Ps 130:7)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

During the distribution of Communion, we can reflect that not only is God\u2019s mercy for all, God\u2019s gifts are also for all.<\/p>\n

The psalm verses are taken from Psalms 130 and 103, with the trademark Psallite<\/em> quarter-refrains at the end of each line.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
