You will find the discussions <a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2020\/04\/18\/clericalism-and-the-pandemic\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2020\/04\/27\/some-thoughts-on-spiritual-communion\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>GIA has just made available a new prayer by Diana Macalintal for the same purpose, which seems to me to be a vast improvement. Here it is in both English and Spanish, with permission of the author:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>A Prayer When One Cannot Receive Communion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My Jesus,<br \/>\nI believe that, even before I was born, you have been with me,<br \/>\nknitting my very being, day by day, into the garment of your love,<br \/>\nclothing me with grace every moment of my life.<br \/>\nAnd on the day of my baptism you poured your love into my heart<br \/>\nthrough the Holy Spirit who unites me eternally to you.<\/p>\n<p>Through that same Spirit I pledge my love and adore you,<br \/>\npresent in your Most Holy Body and Blood.<br \/>\nThough I cannot consume you in this sacred banquet<br \/>\nlet me be consumed by your complete desire for me<br \/>\nso that my longing for you may be filled with your love alone<br \/>\nand your mercy overflow through me into this world so in need.<\/p>\n<p>On that joyful day when I do receive you in the Eucharist,<br \/>\nmay I remember that this precious gift is still but a foretaste<br \/>\nof the holy gifts that await your holy people at your heavenly altar.<br \/>\nThere, with the saints and angels, we shall see you face to face<br \/>\nand give you perfect praise for ever.
