The rendition of the Communion Antiphon in the Missal seemed rather prosaic:<\/p>\n

For anyone who drinks it, says the Lord,
\nthe water I shall give will become in him
\na spring welling up to eternal life.
\n– John 4:13-14, extracted from this Sunday\u2019s Gospel, John 4:5-42<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Collegeville Composers, therefore, constructed an antiphon based on a concatenation of extracts from the same Gospel:<\/p>\n

Give me this water (John 4:15)
\nThe water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life (John 4:14)
\nTrue worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth (John 4:23)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The antiphon is used as an ostinato with verses superimposed. The Missal suggests Isaiah 12, but the Collegeville Composers preferred to use John 4:13-14 and 34 from the Gospel, together with Psalm 34, the classic Communion Psalm.
