There it\nis coupled with Luke 2 (\u201cAt last, all-powerful Master, \/ you give leave to your\nservant&#8230;\u201d) and Ps 122 (\u201cI rejoiced when I heard them say: \/ \u2018Let us go to\nGod\u2019s house&#8230;\u201d); for the Communion procession, Ps 145 was selected (\u201cI will\ngive you glory, O God my king&#8230;\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ps\n145, the only \u201csong of praise\u201d properly so-designated in the psalter (Robert\nAlter), is presented in its entirety and makes a splendid procession text, not\njust for its explicit mention of how God feeds everyone\u2014right on time,\nlavishly, according to the desire of every living thing (mentioned twice in the\npsalm)\u2014but for the psalm\u2019s overall emphasis on how good, faithful, compassionate,\nand attentive God is. What a comfort to the elderly and the adolescent, the\nsingle parent and the orphan . . . and all of us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The choice of antiphon may seem strange at first, but in fact, it is a free paraphrase of the Latin antiphon <em>Lumen ad revelationem gentium<\/em>, one of the antiphons specified for the procession into the church, but importantly clarifying that it is Christ who is the subject (a fairly frequent misconception is that \u201ca light to enlighten the gentiles\u201d refers to the star of Bethlehem!).
