Jacob Berns, OSB, of St. John\u2019s Abbey.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The introit for the 31<sup>st<\/sup> Sunday in Ordinary Time and the following weekdays is <em>Ne derelinquas me<\/em>\u2014except on Sundays in the Year C which we currently have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like in most such cases, the reason can be found in the Sunday Gospel, which is Luke 19:1-10 on the tax collector Zacchaeus whom Jesus does not condemn; instead, he wants to be hosted by him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Misereris omnium,<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2019\/03\/05\/introitus-ash-wednesday\/\">which we know as introit from Ash Wednesday<\/a>, can be regarded as an interpretation of Zacchaeus&#8217; experience which becomes our own experience on this Sunday: God has mercy. God does not hate me, even when I fail. Even more: God cares for those who fail.
