For there is forgiveness with you, God (of) Israel.\u201d  (Ps 130(129):3\u20134)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.salicus.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/si-iniquitates.mp4\">Click here to listen to an audio of the chant<\/a><em> sung by Liborius Lumma, Innsbruck (Austria).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This introit is clearly divided into two parts: The first sentence expresses anxiety and restlessness \u2013 the melody start to shiver around the half-tone and bursts like in panic. The second sentence finds peace and safety and calmness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Different from the Hebrew version of Ps 130(129), the words <em>Deus Israel<\/em> are added at the end. God is directly addressed in an expression of relation to certain humans \u2013 the people of Israel (which also means the church, especially in its liturgical use). My impression is that <em>Domine<\/em> in the first sentence expresses distance and aloofness, while <em>Deus Israel<\/em> expresses tenderness and trust.
