We already had this introit on St. Thomas’ day,<\/a> but here are some new thoughts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amici tui, Deus<\/em> \u2013 \u201cYour friends, God\u2026\u201d The Old Testament in its Latin version had no problem with using the word \u201cfriend\u201d for a special relationship to God. Jesus himself dignified his apostles by calling them \u201cfriends.\u201d (John 15:15)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many faithful\ntoday would hesitate to use that term. I personally would hesitate too to call\nmyself a \u201cfriend of God,\u201d and I would be very reluctant if someone called\nherself or himself like that. And have a look: In this introit, the person does\nnot call himself oder herself God\u2019s friend, but others are dignified with that\ntitle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
