Today\u2019s\nantiphon and psalm re-use those provided for the Evening Mass of the Lord\u2019s\nSupper on Holy Thursday. Twice Jesus tells us: \u201cDo this in remembrance of me.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paraphrase-antiphon, derived from the wording of the alternate version in the 1998 ICEL Antiphonal<\/em>,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is my body given for you,
\u00a0this is my blood poured out for you;
\u00a0do this to remember me.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

harks\nback to 1 Cor 11:24-26 from today\u2019s 2nd Reading. The verses from Psalm 23 are then\nsuperimposed on the first half of the antiphon, so that the repeated \u201cDo this\nand remember me\u201d at the end of every two lines of the psalm becomes a kind of\nmantra, enfleshing our commemoration of the Institution of the Eucharist at the\nLast Supper. The repetition invites those receiving communion to offer up\nthemselves to God and to give themselves to their neighbors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
