\u201cAll peoples,\nclap your hands, jubilate to God with a voice of exultation.\u201d (Ps 47(46):2)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is one of\nmy favorite introits in the entire Gregorian repertoire. The reason is the\nfirst syllable: omnes gentes<\/em>, all\npeoples. When you sing omnes<\/em>\ncarefully and as expressive as the medieval neumes want it to be sung, you can imagine\nsomeone looking around from East to West, along the horizon, astonished and\noverwhelmed by the magnificence of the world that is in front of his or her eyes.\nAll of that is addressed by God, all of that, nothing less.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
