And he relieved me from the hand of\nHerod and from all the expectation of the crowd of the Jews.\u201d (Acts 12:11)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Solemnity of\nPeter and Paul has two Mass propers: one for the eve, and one for the day\nitself. Surprisingly the chants of both Masses almost completely focus on Peter\n(Paul only gets the second readings in both Masses).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In <em>Nunc scio<\/em> I find \u2013 as in many other\nchants \u2013 a nice play with the melodic directions upwards and downwards: <em>Misit Dominus Angelum suum<\/em> (\u201cthe Lord has\nsent his angel\u201d) moves from the top downwards as if there came something from\nheaven down to earth.
