It seems that he was a striking personality. Even his garment\nwas worth noticing. The end of his life was a spectacular martyrdom, and in the\nChristian tradition he is always the number two in the list of the Saints,\nright after Mary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Against this\nbackground one could expect an ostentatious melody for the introit which is taken\nfrom the book of Isaiah, thus showing us John among the prophets. But actually\nthe melody is modest and cautious, not triumphant at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe this is\nwhat this introit wants to tell us: Being in God\u2019s service has nothing to do\nwith being a celebrity.
