{"id":45989,"date":"2019-02-28T01:00:48","date_gmt":"2019-02-28T07:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=45989"},"modified":"2019-03-25T15:07:09","modified_gmt":"2019-03-25T20:07:09","slug":"gospel-communion-eighth-sunday-in-ordinary-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2019\/02\/28\/gospel-communion-eighth-sunday-in-ordinary-time\/","title":{"rendered":"GOSPEL COMMUNION: Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>March 3rd: Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time (C)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"303\" src=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Psallite-March-3rd-1-600x303.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45991\" srcset=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Psallite-March-3rd-1-600x303.png 600w, https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Psallite-March-3rd-1-300x152.png 300w, https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Psallite-March-3rd-1.png 647w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nantiphon is a hybrid, deriving from the overall thrust of the Missal antiphon: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>I will sing to the Lord who has been bountiful with me,<br>           sing psalms to the name of the Lord Most High<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>coupled\nwith the final verse of today\u2019s Gospel, Luke 6:45:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good,<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil;<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From\nthe store of goodness in our own hearts we bring forth a song in praise of the\nLord, while at the same time the Lord out of the goodness and abundance of his\nheart nourishes us at his table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nantiphon is coupled with a selection of verses from Psalm 86, a psalm of\nintercession. The 9th stanza harks back to the Antiphon, while the 10th stanza\nreminds us that in walking to Communion we are also walking in the way and the\ntruth of the Lord. The psalm verses make use of one of the <em>Psallite<\/em> techniques to provide variety in the antiphon + psalm\nform: the metrically-chanted verses are superimposed on the antiphon.
