{"id":4565,"date":"2010-10-06T16:07:23","date_gmt":"2010-10-06T21:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=4565"},"modified":"2010-12-29T21:37:04","modified_gmt":"2010-12-30T03:37:04","slug":"ban-on-school-christmas-carols-upheld","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2010\/10\/06\/ban-on-school-christmas-carols-upheld\/","title":{"rendered":"Ban on school Christmas carols upheld"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(RNS) \u201cSilent Night\u201d and other religious songs will remain off the program at holiday concerts in one New Jersey school district\u2014and possibly others across the country\u2014after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal of a school ban on religious holiday music.<\/p>\n<p>By deciding Monday (Oct. 4) not to hear the case, the high court ended a six-year legal battle that started when parent Michael Stratechuk sued the School District of South Orange and Maplewood over a policy that barred religious songs at public concerts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing more, short of the school district changing its policy. There\u2019s no other legal avenue to take,\u201d Stratechuk\u2019s attorney, Robert J.
