Seek the Lord and\nbe strengthened, seek his face always.\u201d (Ps 105(104):3\u20134)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not a chant for serious maturity. Its melody is a rather\njuvenile skipping and hopping \u2013 happy, but also a bit restless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is this bad joke: Philosophers are people in a completely dark\nroom seeking a cat that is not there. Theologians are people in a completely\ndark room seeking a cat that is not there and shouting \u201cI found it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No one knows if there is a God. Even Christians who recite the Creed every day do not know if their faith is true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the requirements that the Rule of St. Benedict gives for monks are the striking words <em>revera Deum quaerere<\/em>, \u201ctruly seeking God.\u201d (There might be a cat!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We should not behave as if we had found the cat or as if we own the cat as our property. But the seeking itself is what makes us tap the full potential of human beings. This path can be disturbing and can make us restless. But this introit tells us: Seeking God is worth a try. You seek God?
