{"id":42648,"date":"2018-08-03T15:38:44","date_gmt":"2018-08-03T20:38:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/?p=42648"},"modified":"2018-08-10T09:32:21","modified_gmt":"2018-08-10T14:32:21","slug":"shakeup-at-npm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2018\/08\/03\/shakeup-at-npm\/","title":{"rendered":"Shakeup at NPM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Steve Petrunak, president and CEO of the <a href=\"http:\/\/npm.org\/\">National Association of Pastoral Musicians<\/a> since May 2017, wrote to the membership today to inform them of <strong>restructuring<\/strong> in the organization\u2019s national office in Silver Spring, MD. Longtime employees <strong>Paul Lagoy<\/strong>, secretary and mail clerk, and <strong>Peter Maher<\/strong>, formerly chief operations officer and more recently director of conventions and institutes, are leaving NPM. In the letter to members Petrunak thanked them \u201cfor their long and dedicated service to our Association and its members\u201d and wished them God\u2019s blessings in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that \u201cthe landscape is changing,\u201d Petrunak wrote that \u201cNPM must also embrace change if we are to be a vibrant and relevant association.\u201d He cited churches closing and merging in some parts of the country, and the association \u201cmay face similar strains in the years to come.\u201d A recent member survey showed that 3 out of 4 members are over age 50, and that the membership remains substantially homogeneous while the U.S. becomes more diverse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have determined, with the support of our Board of Directors, that the current National Office organizational structure is no longer adequate to meet our needs,\u201d Petrunak wrote. \u201cA restructure of our staff and operations is under way here in Silver Spring, Maryland.
