Il vero pensiero della Chiesa secondo la vera storia del nuovo rito \u2013 <\/em>\u201cCommunion in the Hand? The True Mind of the Church according to the True History of the New Rite\u201d \u2013 was published in Rome in 1990. In it, the author attempted to demonstrate that communion on the tongue was in use in Rome in the 5th-6th\u00a0century and passed from there into the regions of Gall in the 7th\u00a0century.<\/p>\n<p>Zoffoli\u2019s book was soon reviewed in <em>Ecclesia Orans <\/em>by Matias Aug\u00e9, longtime professor at the Benedictine pontifical liturgical institute of Sant\u2019 Anselmo in Rome, and more recently a member of the commission appointed by Pope Francis to examine <em>Liturgiam authenticam <\/em>and the issue of liturgical translation. Aug\u00e9 shows that the author\u2019s historical claims are not supported by the sources, and raises critical questions as well about the author\u2019s methodology.<\/p>\n<p><em>Pray Tell<\/em> offers in translation Aug\u00e9&#8217;s review of Zofolli, in the hopes that it will be a constructive contribution to the <a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2018\/02\/22\/cardinal-sarah-receive-communion-kneeling-and-on-the-tongue-to-be-on-the-side-of-the-archangel-michael-rather-than-lucifer\/\">discussion <\/a>which has recently arisen:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/praytellblog.com\/index.php\/2018\/03\/04\/communion-in-the-hand-what-is-the-history\/concerning-communion-in-the-hand-auge\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41091\">&#8220;Concerning Communion in the Hand&#8221; by Matias Auge<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">*\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 *\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 *<\/p>\n<p><em>Pray Tell\u00a0<\/em>Readers will also be interested in Fr.
